Meeting held – Wednesday, August 22

The third meeting of the Canada chapter was held on Wednesday, August 22. Lisa Abe, Partner, Fasken Martineau and IAOP Toronto Chapter Chair, and Darlene Ross, Director, Technology Operations, BMO Financial Group presented on the topic Orientation, Governance and Administration

Primary Purpose
The primary focus of the Toronto Chapter of IAOP will be to provide an opportunity for members in Canada (greater Toronto area) or members wanting to do business in Canada, to meet for networking and learning about Canadian cross-border outsourcing issues.

Chapter meeting guest speakers will include service provider, customer and consultant member firms.

Meeting held – Tuesday, June 19

The second meeting of the Canada chapter was held on Tuesday, June 19, 2007 at the offices of Fasken Martineau DuMoulin LLP, 66 Wellington Street West, 42nd floor, Dominion Bank Tower, Toronto.

Meeting Topic:

Connected Sourcing: The New Strategy Agenda

CEOs’ priorities, the experiences of leading organizations, and emerging technology trends all suggest that by 2010 the world will be even more global and competitive than it is today. Firms will focus more sharply on what they do best, and they will enlist a growing diversity of specialized suppliers for the rest.

In this world, some outsourced services will become highly commoditized while others will be truly differentiating. Organizations will increasingly look outside their walls not just to reduce costs but for innovation - in processes, product and service differentiation -  to free up resources, transform their businesses, and facilitate sustainable competitive advantage. As supply networks become more global and complex, winning will depend on transparency, trustworthiness, and reciprocity -- In a word: collaboration.

Join Robert Scott of PricewaterhouseCoopers and Lisa Abe of Fasken Martineau for a discussion of where outsourcing and offshoring is headed in 2010. They will draw upon new PwC research on how collaboration, enabled by new technologies, is changing the business of outsourcing.

Please mark you calendar for these proposed meetings:

September 2007 & November 2007

Proposed topics for upcoming meetings:

- Outsourcing implementation, governance and administration

- Benchmarking and its alternatives

- IT Security Compliance - emerging issues and practical implications for outsourcing
