Next Meeting –
Wednesday, June 18, 2008

The next meeting of the IAOP New York City Chapter, chaired by Mike Latchford of PA Consulting Group, will be held on June 18, 2008 from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Yale Club, 50 Vanderbilt Avenue, New York, NY.

This meeting will consist of a client roundtable discussion led by Edmond Cunningham and Scott Lever, PA Consulting, entitled “Ensuring Successful Transition & Contract Implementation.”  Getting to contract is only half the work.  The real challenge for organizations is transitioning services to an outsourcing provider.  The effectiveness of the transition will in large part determine the ultimate success of the outsourcing relationship as it sets the stage for positive working relationships and achievable expectations.   The roundtable discussion will focus on the key challenges with transitioning services to an outsourcing provider.  The challenges range from determining the client’s role in transition and planning to the people and organizational change issues.  The speakers will present learnings based on their experience guiding clients through transitions, and offer helpful advice on successfully transitioning services to realize the promise of outsourcing.

Chairman’s Summary:  Meeting held –September 13, 2007

The September 13 meeting of the IAOP NY Chapter focused on the Financial Services industry, and involved a panel discussion of several financial institutions and advisors on the topic of 'Accelerating Growth Through Outsourcing & Offshoring'.

Panel Members included:

-John Stone, Managing Consultant at PA Consulting Group (moderator)
-Nigel Howard, Partner at Mayer Brown
-Andrea Kirk, Vice President of Credit Derivatives at Goldman Sachs
-Michael Morandini, Vendor Mgmt & Outsourcing Lead for Fixed Income IT at UBS
-Peter Nag, Director of Smith Barney Technology Group at Citigroup

Recognizing that outsourcing is more about a complex change and transformation program than a mere transaction and/or cost reduction exercise, the Moderator, John Stone from PA Consulting Group, utilized PA's Change Framework during the roundtable discussion that organized the various topic questions around the framework's core principles: Making it Essential, Making it Ready, Making it Happen and finally, Making it Stick.

After providing their own overview of outsourcing and offshoring of services within financial institutions, the panelists then engaged in a lively and thought-provoking discussion around the various topics, providing their own insights into how their companies, and the industry as a whole, as approach the topic at hand.

The event was well received by those in attendance, and we look forward to the next event in latter Q4 or early Q1 2008.
