The most recent virtual meeting of the IAOP Global Human Capital Chapter co-chaired by Lori Blackman of DNL Global and Julia Santos of Johnson & Johnson Group of Consumer Companies was held on Tuesday, June 30. This program centered on The 2009 IAOP Global Human Capital Forum’s program theme, “Managing the Talent Portfolio of Outsourcing.” Gaurav Rastogi, Associate Vice President and Head of Global Sales Effectiveness and Steven L. Jeffries, Head of Global HR/OCM, from Infosys Technologies provided a preview of the value driven session they will present at the upcoming day-long forum in Chicago on September 22. During the presentation entitled “Mitigating Organizational and Human Capital Risk in Outsourcing – Staff Augmentation to Managed Services”, Rastogi & Jeffries discussed the key human capital aspects involved as you work with your sourcing partner to move your organization successfully through the sourcing journey. The panel discussion focused on “The Impact of Today’s Economic Environment on Outsourcing Professionals – Creating your Personal Strategy.” Participants learned the best ways to maneuver through today’s uncertain economy, significant corporate layoffs and disconcerting government opinions about outsourcing to create a positive impact on their outsourcing careers. Our panel of experts, composed of Lori Blackman of DNL Global, Julia Santos of J&J Group of Consumer Companies, Kurt Kohorst of Liberty Mutual Insurance and Linda Chapin of EDS and GHC Advisors, provided an overview of the IAOP Career Mapping Initiative, compensation results and discussion points from the IAOP Career Mapping Phase III Initiative, as well as the human resources perspective of the data and what it means to business executives. This valuable discussion gave participants ideas on how to create their personal strategies or build on what they’ve started! Meeting Held – September 18, 2008 The latest meeting of the IAOP Global Human Capital Chapter was a collaborative effort with the IAOP New York Chapter at their meeting on Thursday, September 18 at the Kirkland & Ellis LLP New York Office, Citigroup Center, 153 East 53rd Street, New York, NY. The meeting featured a presentation entitled “Building the Outsourcing Professional’s Skill Portfolio” delivered by Michael Corbett, Chairman of IAOP, and Kurt Kohorst, AVP Outsourcing Programs of Safeco Insurance. Next, a panel discussion led by Lori Blackman of DNL Global and co-chair of the Global Human Capital Chapter addressed “Human Capital Disparity and Constraints in the Outsourcing Market”. Panel members included: Julia Santos, director of worldwide strategic outsourcing at Johnson & Johnson and co-chair of the Global Human Capital chapter, Allan Schweyer, executive director at the Human Capital Institute, Smriti Krishna, vice president human resources at Genpact, and Neil McEwen, managing consultant at PA Consulting Group. Participants learned about the Career Mapping Materials plus how one organization used them to build their outsourcing professionals’ skill portfolios! In addition, they listened to the experts as they discussed human capital in the outsourcing marketplace! Webinar Held - Thursday, July 17, 2008 The second Global Human Capital Chapter webinar was held on Thursday, July 17, 2008. Co-chairs Lori Blackman of DNL Global and Julia Santos of Johnson & Johnson moderated a discussion entitled “A Balanced Talent Portfolio.” Panelists who contributed to the discussion were Chris Disher of Chris Disher & Associates, Denis Picard of Alvarez & Marsal and Chris Nuttall of PA Consulting. The idea of a balanced financial portfolio is one we have all longed for, far before we had money to balance! Over the past few years, the concept of balancing a corporation’s global sourcing portfolio has been a prominent conference topic. Our expert panelists discussed the benefits of balancing local and non-local perspectives, on-site and off-site locations, industry and outsourcing experience and a multitude of other variables and considerations as one designs his team and career progression. Concepts were explored on a macro, micro and individual level leading to very thought provoking conversation! Chapter Launched – Tuesday, May 13, 2008! The Global Human Capital chapter held its Inaugural webinar on May 13, 2008 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. (CDT). Co-chairs Lori Blackman, DNL Global, and Julia Santos, Johnson & Johnson, moderated and participated in a discussion entitled “How Will the 2008 Economy Impact the Outsourcing Professional”. Dean Davison of neoIT discussed the characteristics of a provider, buyer and advisor. In addition, Kurt Kohorst of Safeco shared his thoughts about the industry. Predictions of emerging markets in 2008 and the unique opportunities they present for individual growth were shared!
