International Association of Outsourcing Professionals to Release New Thought Leadership Industry Research

IAOP Studies Deliver Latest Knowledge to the Industry

POUGHKEEPSIE, N. Y., Oct. 30, 2008 – The International Association of Outsourcing Professionals (IAOP) today announced a new series of thought leadership research delivering the latest knowledge on the management practice of outsourcing.

The IAOP Fall 2008 Thought Leadership Series features three reports developed with world-class research programs, universities and organizations.

“These timely new studies leverage the expertise of IAOP’s professional membership alongside a global network of thought leaders to deliver the very latest knowledge to the industry,” said Michael Corbett, IAOP Chairman.

“This latest research series from IAOP helps professionals make more strategic outsourcing decisions; better understand the risks and benefits from outsourcing; and more effectively measure outsourcing success,” said Jagdish Dalal, IAOP’s Managing Director of Thought Leadership.

The IAOP Fall 2008 Thought Leadership Series includes:

Ř Strategic Outsourcing Decision Making – Conducted in partnership with the University of South Wales, this report will look at why and how companies around the globe are making outsourcing decisions as the world’s economy shifts. This report is available today on IAOP’s Knowledge Center, Firmbuilder.com®.

Ř Deep Dive into the Benefits and Risks from Outsourcing Building on the wealth of data collected by IAOP’s Academic Alliance Partner, Duke Center for International Business Education and Research (CIBER) Fuqua School of Business, this study uncovers trends by geography, industry, function and company size on the drivers and risks of outsourcing around the corner and across the world.

Ř Developing Reliable Measures of Alliance Success Developed in association with a doctoral student at University of Phoenix, this report answers the questions:  How do companies measure outsourcing success? What techniques provide for the most effective understanding of the results achieved? How do companies set the stage for better outcomes in the future?

All of these findings will be released this fall and then presented in depth at the association’s annual conference, The 2009 Outsourcing World Summit®, Feb. 16-18, at La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, California.

Other IAOP research to be published at the Summit include a recently completed study on “Using Tools to Enhance Outsourcing Outcomes,” which explores how technology can improve outsourcing success.

Chaired by Graham Pascoe, partner of PricewaterhouseCoopers in London, the IAOP Research Committee conducts studies examining outsourcing processes, trends and practices to establish benchmarks in various outsourcing disciplines and advance the profession and industry.

As one of the four service committees of IAOP, the Research Committee is chaired by a member of the association’s Strategic Advisory Board and made up of corporate and other members. Other committees include Training and Certification, Member Services, and Advocacy and Outreach.
